It all started over 40 years ago when Guenter Poeschel, an extraordinary engineer started working on his aviation visions for the future. Equator Aircraft Company GmbH was founded and developed in Ulm, Germany in 1974. Guenter Poeschel is a Mechanical Engineer, GA Test Pilot and aircraft constructor. His ideas on bringing in the beautiful and simple shapes of modern gliders, and mix them with high end composite technology resulted in three major prototype test beds; the P-300 A1, the P-420, and the P-300 Amphibian. This made Guenter Poeschel one of the first in the world to use this fantastic technology in aircraft construction. He was at the time way ahead of aircraft designers around the world. The ironic part is that his “old” designs still represent some of the most innovative thoughts in the industry even today!
Short Introduction. Guenter Poeschel and his team successfully built and test flew three Equator prototypes from the year 1969 to the 1980´s. The Equator idea, at the time, presented a very unusual modular aircraft system as both amphibian or landplane. They were designed to be perfect for unusual mission abilities to make profit day and night, during all seasons. The modular-system ranges from 2-4-6-8-10 seats up to 12 passengers, in the cabin or wide-body class. From the low-price landplane with fixed gear and piston engine single up to the pressurized turboprop twin amphibian with center line thrust up to the 20 seater commuter and jet amphibian.
The unique design ideas, is the combination of known and proven conceptions put together in new ways to achieve better characteristics.
A more extensive history on the Equator legacy is being worked on at the moment, but the following three aircraft test beds is what we proudly look back upon.
1969: The P-300 A1 Testbed.
1975: The P-420 Turboprop Testbed.
1981: The P-300 Amphibian Testbed.
The test area used in the vintage footage of the Equator test beds P-300 A1, P-300 and the 420 is designated Ulm, Laupheim (military base) and Erbach Airfield. The P-300 test bed prototype can today be viewed at Erbach Airfield.

Tomas Broedreskift met Mr. Poeschel in 2008 and has since worked closely with him to evolve the existing concepts further. Especially the P2 (a two seater LSA) caught the attention. He took the foundation back to Norway where he teamed up with Oeyvind Berven a proffessional Pilot with SAS, mechanic, and Industrial Designer. The concepts where involved further in an Industrial Design concept study at AHO ( Oslo School of Architecture and Design).
Proud Founders of Equator Aircraft Norway DA in 2009
Equator Aircraft Norway DA was founded in 2009 by the two (at the time) industrial Design students Tomas Broedreskift and Oeyvind Berven whilst finishing their diploma on the renamed EQP2 project. The outcome of the project just seemed so promising a company and a future plan had to be made upon the thousands of hours and founding ideas already put into the creation of the unique EQP2- cockpit and aircraft in general.
